I believe math teachers should give a reasonable amount of homework on a regular basis in order to give the students the opportunity to practice the desired skills that have been taught. Homework is a unique opportunity because a period of time has passed since the initial lesson was taught, and the student is in a different environment – often without the support of a teacher or classmate to help.
I agree with you. My Math teacher in high school was hard on us, but she would not let us leave the board until we saw what was wrong and was able to explain why it is wrong. I’ve always loved Math, and because of her, I still remember concepts that were hard to wrap my head around before she was my teacher.
